Humboldt County, California – In an effort to bolster local employment and provide resources for job seekers, Humboldt County is hosting its third annual Countywide Career Fair at the Sequoia Conference Center. The event, which will take place next Thursday, is designed to bring together employers from various sectors and individuals seeking new career opportunities.

A Hub for Local Employers and Job Seekers

The Countywide Career Fair, organized by the Humboldt County Office of Education (HCOE), has become a key event for both job seekers and employers. With over 40 companies and organizations already registered, the event promises to offer a broad range of career options, from education and healthcare to technology and the arts. The fair is open to individuals of all backgrounds, whether they are looking to change careers, re-enter the workforce, or explore new industries.

“Providing a platform for local employers and residents is crucial for economic growth,” said HCOE spokesperson Sarah Walters. “Our goal is to connect people with potential employers and create opportunities for those seeking work in Humboldt County.”

Local Employers on the Hunt for Talent

Among the many companies attending are some of Humboldt County’s most prominent employers, including local healthcare systems, government agencies, and educational institutions. The fair aims to address the ongoing demand for skilled workers in the region.

“Our community is rich with talent, but there is still a need for qualified professionals in several sectors,” said David Carter, a recruiter with St. Joseph Health. “The Career Fair provides a unique opportunity to meet potential candidates face-to-face, learn about their skills, and see if they could be a good fit for our team.”

In addition to traditional industries, the event will feature businesses in technology, hospitality, and the growing cannabis industry, which has seen an increase in job openings over the last few years. These diverse employers are hoping to fill both entry-level and higher-skilled positions, offering flexible work environments and competitive salaries.

Career Resources and Workshops

One of the standout features of this year’s Career Fair is the additional support offered to attendees. The event will host workshops and informational sessions to help job seekers prepare for interviews, improve resumes, and gain skills in job searching. Local workforce development programs will also be available, offering personalized guidance to those who need assistance navigating the application process.

“We know that it can be difficult to find a job, especially for people who may not have a lot of experience or have been out of the workforce for a while,” said Jessica Lopez, a career counselor with the Humboldt Workforce Development Center. “That’s why we’re excited to offer workshops and resources that can help people feel more confident and prepared for the job market.”

A Community Effort

This event is not just about job placement; it’s about strengthening the local economy and community as a whole. The Humboldt County Office of Education has collaborated with local organizations, chambers of commerce, and workforce development agencies to make the Career Fair a success. These partnerships are designed to provide holistic support to both employers and job seekers alike.

“We’re proud to be part of a community that cares about its residents and their success,” said HCOE Executive Director, Mark Thomas. “By bringing everyone together, we’re creating a network of resources that help people find meaningful work and contribute to the growth of our local economy.”
