After two days of responding to a wildfire that burned thousands of acres, residents across Los Angeles County received false wildfire evacuation warnings Thursday afternoon. Shortly after, officials sent out an additional warning that the notice was only for people near the Kenneth Fire in Woodland Hills.

Los Angeles County shared a message with X explaining what happened: “A countywide evacuation order was inadvertently issued for residents near the Kenneth Fire, currently burning in the West Hills. This alert was intended only for residents of Calabasas and Agoura Hills.”

CBS News quoted local officials as saying the alert containing the broken URL was sent “due to a technical error.”

This is a warning to ignore other evacuation advisories.

Many wildfires are burning in the Los Angeles area, and authorities have confirmed at least six deaths, CNN reported. Los Angeles County has a population of approximately 10 million people, which is “the largest population of any county in the United States,” according to the county’s website.
