LG is coming to CES with two all-in-one “lifestyle projectors.” This looks great when it’s off, but it doesn’t necessarily give you the best image for the price when it’s on. Both run on webOS and have extensive support for your favorite streaming apps.
The PF600U is three devices in one, combining a simple Full HD projector with a Bluetooth speaker and a standing floor lamp. It weighs 16 pounds 8 ounces (7.5 kg) and features two obscure speakers and an LED lamp that is capable of nine colors and five brightness levels.
This projector rotates with a 110-degree tilt head with automatic screen adjustment, allowing you to quickly and easily fine-tune the projected image as you move the lamp around the room. Please note that it can only produce 300 ANSI lumens of brightness. This means that a 1920 x 1080 image won’t look very good unless you look at it in blackout conditions.
CineBeam S (Model PU615U) is a very small (4.3 x 6.3 x 6.3 inches / 110 x 160 x 160mm) ultra-short throw projector that can be placed just a few inches from the wall. What’s more, it features ambient light rejection (ALR). Generates huge 4K images from a laser (RGB) light source while still being displayed on screen. It has integrated stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos. It can also produce a slightly brighter 500 ANSI lumen image, but it will look washed out if you have to contend with ambient lighting in the room.
LG hasn’t announced anything useful like price, release date, or countries where it will be available. Perhaps the company wants to put everyone on alert when these are first publicly demonstrated in Las Vegas starting next week.
