Tesla has unveiled its first self-charging electric vehicle prototype, the “Model Infinite,” during a high-profile event at its Fremont, California, facility. The vehicle features solar panels integrated into the bodywork and advanced regenerative braking technology, designed to extend driving range and reduce dependence on external charging.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk described the prototype as “a revolutionary step toward energy-independent transportation.” The Model Infinite’s solar panels can generate up to 30 miles of range per day under optimal conditions, while its regenerative braking system recycles kinetic energy to further enhance efficiency.
The prototype is part of Tesla’s broader vision to develop vehicles that rely entirely on renewable energy. The company plans to refine the technology and bring a production version of the Model Infinite to market by 2027.
While the announcement has generated excitement, skeptics have raised questions about the feasibility of large-scale adoption, citing limitations in solar efficiency and production costs. Tesla’s stock rose 5% following the event, reflecting investor optimism about the company’s continued innovation.
