Samsung Electronics showcased its latest advancements in foldable technology at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, 2025, in New York City. The company introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, highlighting significant improvements in design, performance, and artificial intelligence (AI) integration.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 emerges as Samsung’s thinnest and lightest foldable device to date, measuring 8.9mm when folded and 4.2mm when unfolded, and weighing 215 grams. It features an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display and a 6.5-inch cover screen, both offering enhanced brightness and clarity. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite for Galaxy chipset, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. A standout feature is its 200MP main camera, complemented by a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP telephoto lens, enabling high-resolution photography and 8K video recording. The 4,400mAh battery supports 25W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The Fold 7 operates on Android 16 with Samsung’s One UI 8, incorporating Galaxy AI features such as real-time translation and advanced image editing tools.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 introduces a larger 4.1-inch cover display and a 6.9-inch main screen, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is equipped with Samsung’s Exynos 2500 chipset, 12GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. The device houses a dual-camera setup with 50MP and 12MP sensors, and a 10MP front-facing camera. Its 4,300mAh battery offers improved longevity over its predecessor. The Flip 7 also features Galaxy AI capabilities, including Transcript Assist and Note Assist, enhancing productivity and user interaction.
Samsung also announced the Galaxy Z Flip 7 Fan Edition (FE), targeting consumers seeking a more budget-friendly foldable smartphone. The Flip 7 FE is powered by the Exynos 2400 chipset and offers 8GB of RAM with storage options of 128GB or 256GB. It maintains many of the Flip 7’s features, including Galaxy AI integration, while providing a cost-effective alternative.
In addition to smartphones, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch 8 series, comprising the Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, and Watch Ultra 2. These wearables feature improved health tracking, including sleep analysis and antioxidant monitoring, and are powered by the new Exynos W1000 chipset. The watches run on Wear OS 6 with One UI 8 Watch and incorporate Gemini AI for enhanced user interaction.
Samsung’s One UI 8, based on Android 16, introduces a range of AI-driven features across devices, such as real-time language translation, personalized content suggestions, and advanced security measures. The new interface aims to provide a more intuitive and connected user experience.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE began on July 9, with official sales starting on July 25. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is priced at $1,999.99, the Z Flip 7 at $1,099.99, and the Z Flip 7 FE at $899.99. The Galaxy Watch 8 series ranges from $349.99 to $649.99, depending on the model.
