David Bonderman, the lawyer turned private equity pioneer, has died at the age of 82.
In the early 1990s, Bonderman co-founded Texas Pacific Group and led its acquisition of Continental Airlines. The deal cemented his status as turnaround king and placed him in the class of financiers bold enough to acquire some of America’s biggest companies, such as Henry Kravis and Stephen Schwarzman. Ta.

Bonderman’s children said in a statement: “We are all grateful to have experienced his wisdom, resourcefulness, generosity and love. His zest for life and especially for sports and music was contagious.”
