Every day, we are tracked hundreds or even thousands of times across the digital world. All of this is collected, packaged with other details, used to create highly personalized profiles, and then shared or sold, often without your explicit knowledge or consent.

There is a growing consensus that Americans need better privacy protections, and the best way to achieve that is for Congress to pass comprehensive federal privacy laws.

So what can Americans expect from their personal data in 2025? We asked privacy experts and advocates who are thinking about how digital data will be traded or protected in the future. I heard about it. Please read the full text.
