CEO Compensation Analysis
Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet and Google, saw his total annual compensation rise to $10,725,043 in 2024. This figure represents a significant increase, as it is approximately 32 times greater than the median employee salary. Notably, Pichai’s earnings in 2023 were $8,802,824, indicating a raise of nearly $2 million for the current year.
Breakdown of Pichai’s Earnings
The bulk of Pichai’s earnings stemmed from the category labeled “All Other Compensation,” which supplements his base salary and stock awards. His base salary accounted for $2,015,385, with an additional $405,630 attributed to stock awards. The “All Other Compensation” category constituted the remaining $8,304,028.
A significant portion of this total was allocated to personal security expenses, which rose by 22% from $6,775,631 in 2023 to $8,267,123 in 2024. This category encompasses costs relating to his security arrangements and retirement plans, as well as the use of company-provided aircraft and vehicles.
According to Alphabet’s 2025 proxy statement, due to Pichai’s prominent public presence, these security provisions are deemed “reasonable, appropriate, necessary and in the best interests of Alphabet and its stockholders.”
